I’ve become a big fan of Joyce Meyer and her writing. Beginning my day with her inspirational devotions brightens everything and helps me stay focused on what matters.

Today’s Four Keys to Success from The Power of Being Thankful: 365 Devotions for Discovering the Strength of Gratitude apply to any goal, and they’re especially relevant to weight loss.
Here’s what I learned:
Four Keys to (Weight Loss) Success
There are four essential keys to success in any pursuit. When these character traits and habits become part of your routine, they help you move steadily toward the results you want.
#1 Key to Weight Loss Success: Commitment
Without commitment, it’s easy to give up. True commitment creates staying power.
We often start with good intentions—wanting to eat better and lose weight—but at the first slip we tell ourselves it’s not worth it and abandon our plans. We stop exercising, stop planning meals, stop attending meetings, and stop drinking enough water. Commitment keeps you on track through setbacks and temptations.
There’s a difference between interest and commitment. When you’re interested in doing something, you do it only when it’s convenient. When you’re committed to something, you accept no excuses—only results.
~ Kenneth H. Blanchard
#2 Key to Weight Loss Success: Determination
Determination powers progress when goals feel out of reach.
Determination means continuing when the path gets rough, experimenting with new approaches, learning from mistakes, and persevering. Persistence and resolve carry you past obstacles and plateaus.
Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan “Press On!” has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.
~ Calvin Coolidge
#3 Key to Weight Loss Success: Patience
When progress stalls, patience is essential.
Weight loss is rarely a straight line. It can be long and winding with many ups and downs. Patience with yourself as you build new habits is crucial. Treating yourself with respect and kindness while you change your behaviors helps maintain motivation. Remember that real change takes time and steady effort.
There is something good in all seeming failures. You are not to see that now. Time will reveal it. Be patient.
~ Sivananda Saraswati
#4 Key to Weight Loss Success: Rest & Renewal
Regular restoration and renewal prepare you for new challenges.
Self-care matters. In a busy world it’s easy to rush from one task to the next without pausing. Scheduled rest—whether quiet reflection, gentle movement like yoga, or simply stepping away to breathe—recharges your energy and supports consistent progress. Balancing activity with stillness makes your efforts sustainable.
Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer’s day, listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time.
~ John Lubbock, The Use of Life
Joyce encourages us to examine our lives and ask where we need improvement. We don’t have to do it alone—seeking support and guidance can provide the commitment, determination, patience, and renewal needed to succeed.
Do you need improvement in any of these areas? I certainly do, especially with patience and making time for restoration. It’s an ongoing practice, and I try to remember each day to ask for what I need.
Weight Watcher’s Recipe of the Day: Chocolate Almond Coconut Truffles
Today’s recipe comes from the archives: Chocolate Almond Coconut Truffles.
If you want a healthier alternative to an Almond Joy® candy bar, try these homemade truffles. My partner and I made them last year and enjoyed them—smooth, creamy, and satisfying without the long ingredient list of many commercial candies.

Skinny on Healthier Chocolate Almond Coconut Truffles
One of these homemade truffle balls has about half the calories of a snack-size Almond Joy®. Commercial candy bars often contain long, processed ingredient lists. Reading the ingredients out loud before you eat something can be a powerful appetite check.
These truffles use just a handful of pronounceable ingredients and substitute avocado for butter, making them a more wholesome chocolate treat. They’re not health food, but they are a better option when you want something sweet.
For the recipe, search the site for Chocolate Almond Coconut Truffles or check your recipe archive for the full ingredient list and instructions.
