Did you really think I’d share a bread recipe without a tasty pairing? Slice the pita, brush it with herb-infused extra virgin olive oil, then bake until crisp—these spiced pita chips are perfect for dipping into a silky roasted red pepper hummus.

I’m still working on eating more balanced meals—lately that’s meant baked fish, plenty of vegetables, fruit for snacks, and lighter dips like this hummus to keep me satisfied. Exercise has been a little more hit-or-miss; I manage something like once a week, though I think about it more than I actually do it. Once I get moving I rarely want to stop, so I just need the motivation to begin. Sometimes switching up routines helps—quick pilates or yoga stretches, a 20–30 minute kickboxing session, then stretching to cool down usually does the trick for me. I even downloaded Zombies, Run to make running more fun when the weather warms up.

What motivates you to start working out? What’s your favorite workout? I’d love to hear what keeps you going—sometimes a small change in routine is all it takes to stay consistent.

Until I get more consistent with exercise, at least I have delicious, wholesome snacks I can enjoy without guilt.

Pin Recipe
Ingredients
- 8 pitas
- 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon dried minced garlic and parsley
- 1/2 teaspoon powdered onion
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
Cut each pita into 12 triangles. In a bowl, combine the olive oil with the garlic, parsley, powdered onion, paprika, salt, and pepper. Let it sit for about 10 minutes so the flavors meld.
-
Use a pastry brush to coat both sides of each pita triangle with the seasoned oil, getting as much of the spices onto the bread as possible.
-
Arrange the pita pieces in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until crisp and golden. Allow to cool before serving with roasted red pepper hummus or your favorite dip.
