Savory Shipwreck Casserole Recipe for Crowd-Pleasing Dinners

Ingredients

3–4 potatoes, diced
1 onion, diced
Salt and pepper to taste
1 pound ground beef
1 can pork and beans
1 can tomato sauce

Method

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In an oblong baking dish, arrange a layer of the diced potatoes, followed by a layer of diced onion, and then spread the ground beef evenly over the vegetables. Season each layer lightly with salt and pepper.

Pour the can of pork and beans into the dish and gently stir to distribute them among the other ingredients without breaking up the layers completely. Pour the tomato sauce over the top so it coats the surface and seeps down between layers.

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and place it in the preheated oven. Bake for about 45 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the beef is fully cooked. Remove the foil for the last 5–10 minutes of baking if you prefer a slightly browned top.

Allow the casserole to rest for a few minutes before serving so the layers settle. Taste and adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper if needed. Serve hot, either on its own or with a simple side salad or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
