We recently moved into a new house and, like many new homeowners, we’re still unpacking boxes and finding the right places for our things. My priority in this home is to stay organized and avoid accumulating unnecessary items. I’ve noticed that when my spaces are cluttered, I feel stressed and tasks seem more difficult. Keeping things orderly makes daily life smoother and more enjoyable.
One of my organizing goals is to keep kitchen counters clear. With a large walk-in pantry in this house, I can store small appliances and extra cookware out of sight, which helps maintain clean countertops and reduces visual clutter. Over the next few months I’ll be tackling several areas: the garage, the pantry, the kitchen, the refrigerator, my home office, closets, and more. For this first project, I asked my Instagram followers whether they wanted to see drawer organization or under-sink organization. The majority chose under-sink, so I started there.
Under Sink Organization with The Container Store
Products I Used
- Elfa Cabinet-Sized Mesh Drawer Solution
- Clear plastic storage bins
- Divided Lazy Susan
This guest bathroom under-sink cabinet didn’t include drawers when the house was built, so the space felt awkward and underused. To make the area functional and easy to access, I installed The Elfa Cabinet-Sized Mesh Drawer Solution. The mesh drawers create stacked storage that fits the cabinet dimensions and helps make the most of the vertical space around the plumbing.
In addition to the mesh drawer solution, I used clear plastic storage bins to corral smaller items and a divided lazy Susan to keep frequently used supplies accessible. The clear bins help me see contents at a glance, while the divided lazy Susan is ideal for small bottles, first-aid items, and personal-care products that tend to get lost in deep cabinets. These simple pieces work together to create a tidy, functional under-sink area where everything has a place.
This setup may not be glamorous, but it’s practical and makes everyday tasks easier. The goal was to create a reliable system that keeps essentials organized and easy to reach. If you’re tackling an under-sink space, consider measuring the cabinet opening and plumbing clearance first, then choose stackable drawers or bins that fit those dimensions. Using clear containers and a rotating tray for small items also improves visibility and accessibility.
